According to Brad Wilcox, professor of sociology and director of the National Marriage Project at the University of Virginia:

Married men (ages 18-55) in America are about twice as likely to be very happy, compared to their unmarried peers.... For both men and women, marriage is 'the most important differentiator' of who is happy in America.... The research found an astounding 30-percentage-point happiness gap between married and unmarried Americans.

Marriage is of course work. As Westley in The Princess Bride states, "Anyone who says differently is selling something." But a good guy wants marriage because he wants someone to share life with. He wants someone to worship God with. He wants "physical stuff" (we won't elaborate!). He wants to make a woman’s life better. He wants to pass on his love for Christ, his skills, his knowledge, and his civilization to his children.
